In light of COVID-19, we now offer virtual therapy for new and existing clients.
You need to have a computer or smartphone with camera access, a stable internet connection, and a private and quiet location.
You also need to have completed your updated consent form (sent to you via email on March 16) and provided the location where you will be completing your virtual sessions, an emergency contact, and a phone number.
If you are uncomfortable doing a virtual session or have concerns about receiving care this way, please discuss this with your provider directly. Read more about the importance of flattening the curve here.
Your provider will make sure they know your location so in the event of an emergency, they can contact the proper services and direct them to you. If you are having an emergency and your provider is unavailable, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
Although this switch may feel different at first, don’t worry. Many research studies show no difference in outcomes or client satisfaction between in-person and video delivered therapy. If you have concerns, please discuss with your provider.
If you are in NY, you will be charged the same fee as your in-person sessions. Note: insurance coverage for telehealth may vary. We encourage you to reach out to your insurance provider to check in on your coverage if you have questions about your benefits.
If you are in CA and are an Anthem member, Anthem supports similar coverage through telemedicine as in-person care. We are working to verify the benefits of all of our clients, which we anticipate completing by April 7th. We will notify you if there are any changes to your session fees as soon as possible. If you have any concerns, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are using out-of-network benefits, or no benefits, your session fees will remain the same as in-person sessions.
We do not currently know as this is a constantly evolving situation. Octave will continue to monitor and adhere to public health guidelines. We will be sure to inform you as soon as in-person sessions are safe to resume.
Your privacy and confidentiality is extremely important to us. The platform we are using was selected specifically for its HIPAA-compliance and your security. Please refer to the copy of your consent form for more details on the risks of virtual therapy. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to discuss them with your provider.
If you are experiencing technical difficulties, please reach out to your provider and discuss telephone-based care as an option.
